So how is it with the modest f/4 aperture?. The Olympus Pen S is a small viewfinder camera which shoots half-frames of 18x24mm exposures on 35mm film. It takes one normal film frame and splits it in half.

In the end I decided that the Olympus Pen FT was the camera I really wanted to own and use. At the time, 35 mm film and processing was considered quite expensive – so much so that Olympus was actively developing a line of “half frame” cameras, which yielded two shots on a standard 35 mm frame and allowed the user to shoot 72 images on a standard 36-shot roll. Launched by Olympus in 1981, the Pen EF was the last iteration of the Olympus Pen 35mm half-frame camera series.

Before we get to the diptychs, allow me to share how I acquired my Olympus Pen FT. It is solidly built and even though it is small, has some heft to it at 400g. Here is a test shot from the Olympus Pen-F camera it is half-frame, ie 2 images within 1 frame of 35mm.

The Olympus Pen FT is generally known as one of (if not the) nicest half-frame cameras around due to having interchangeable lenses.
